On Saturday, March 27th the HHS debate team competed in the regional competition. Harrisonburg took home the “sweepstakes” trophy, meaning as a school they outperformed all the others. On Wednesday, March 24th, 28 art students took advantage of the Raku Pottery workshop that took place due to a grant given to the art department. Lynn Hilton Conyers, a ceramist and retired art teacher, led to workshop which taught students how to make the traditional Japanese pottery. Picasso and Monet, both well known artists, are found throughout HHS on banners. In the month of March, which is national art month, the artists paintings are hung for everyone to see. Although spring sports have just begun, Harrisonburg High School’s competition cheerleading team is also practicing during open gyms held at HHS by their coach Bridget Smith. The open gyms are on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays and last for an hour. Imprint, the literary magazine of HHS, is starting its new year with a new advisor, English teacher Jenn Rose. The magazine features poems, stories, artwork from students.
