Opinion: Beyonce slayed her Super Bowl performance
February 8, 2013
Beyonce really impressed a lot of people when she performed on Super Bowl Sunday. She’s known to be a great performer and entertainer, and I think she showed just how great she can be, when she danced and sang her heart out for millions of people watching. Twelve minutes in the middle of the Superdome could be very hard to keep entertaining, especially with the such high standards people set for halftime performances, but I think Beyonce did a great job.
Destiny’s Child, the group from which Beyonce get her fame, also had a surprise performance with Beyonce about halfway through the performance. In my opinion, that was the best part of the whole halftime show. Destiny’s Child used to be such a popular and amazing group, and to bring them back, even for only one song, I think was very powerful. It was a pleasant surprise to many people.
Beyonce recently lip-synched at the Presidential Inauguration, which she addressed by saying she wanted to make her country proud and was proud of her performance.
“Due to the weather, due to the delay, due to no proper sound check, I did not feel comfortable taking a risk. It was about the president and the inauguration, and I wanted to make him and my country proud. So I decided to sing along with my pre-recorded track,” Beyonce said, according to The Washington Post.
Although it is very common in the music industry to lip-sync, Beyonce got a lot of criticism for doing this at the inauguration, so she decided to sing live at the Super Bowl. “I will absolutely be singing live at the Super Bowl. This is what I was born to do,” Beyonce said before her Super Bowl performance.
Beyonce should get major props for singing live, dancing and stomping all around the stage, and still managing to look good while doing it. Beyonce did a great job at the Super Bowl, and I look forward to her future performances.
