Students in Mrs. Penny Martinez's anatomy class draw diagrams of the human muscular system as their final exam project. Senior Suheil Barraghi takes careful consideration as he copies the anterior muscles.
There are 650 muscles in the body, but fortunately for Mrs. Penny Martinez’s anatomy class, they only had to know the major ones.
The anatomy class’s final exam consisted of creating a replica of the human muscular system. A total of four days were spent tracing the student’s bodies, sketching muscles in the life-sized outline, coloring them in, and devising games for studying. Some students went above and beyond the expectations, using Velcro to attach different muscles to the paper, in order to create a better studying technique. In fact, all the projects will be laminated so students next year can study these drawings.
Senior Jeremy Phillips thought that the project was a good way to end the class.
“It wasn’t hard. It was pretty easy.”
Martinez has never used this type of final exam structure before; they normally consist of a non-cumulative written test. However, this year, she decided to try something new.
“I like this better,” Martinez said. “It all looks so good.”
