Ka'shea Kimbro and Kalicia Jones

Article

Many may dream of being able to live with a best friend they can hang out with and relate to. Many can’t say they are, but for siblings sophomore Kalicia, junior Ka’Shea, and senior Kimbro Jones, this is the kind of relationship they have.
“Ka’shea and Kimbro baby me a lot. They wouldn’t let me go out one time because they said I’m too young.” Kalicia Jones said. While Ka’Shea and Kimbro get to stay out late and spend the night at friends’ houses, the situation is different for Kalicia.
She is required to be home by 8:30 all seven days of the week and also to check in with her parents before she leaves. The last requirement before leaving is to clean the house. Ka’Shea and Kimbro have to earn their own money but a plus side for Kalicia is that she does not have to work and instead, she receives a five dollar allowance.
Although there are disadvantages of being the youngest of the three, there are some positives. Kalicia goes to her brother and sister for advice, since they are older and have experienced many of the things she is going through. The two sisters share a room and when they’re not out hanging with other friends, they hang out all the time with each other and play board games.
“Being the middle child sometimes I feel like I have to pick sides but otherwise I stay neutral,” Ka’Shea Jones said. Usually, since Kimbro is the only boy, they think he gets to do whatever he wants, but other than that they all get treated fairly.
Many Friday night football games, rain or shine, one can always count on seeing sisters, Ka’Shea and Kalicia, cheering in the stands for their brother Kimbro. They show true support with each other in whatever they are doing.
“Having two sisters not much younger than me is alright. I like having people to pick on.” Kimbro Jones said. As the older brother he feels as though he needs to protect his sisters and watch their backs. Knowing where they are at most of the time makes him feel comfortable. These three siblings show true friendship while being family at the same time.
