Many HHS students walked into a warm packed room pumping with loud hip hop music on Saturday of October 4th. The bumping bass became the beat for movement. Everybody’s hot sweating bodies rub against each other, it’s Homecoming 2008.

“My favorite part about homecoming was dancing and having fun with my friends,” junior Cortez Mosley-Jones said. Many look forward to Homecoming for weeks and even months. Out of many SCA hosted dances, the Homecoming dance is the most attended. For a long time, many girls took their time in picking the perfect dress to fit this year’s theme of New York: the city that never sleeps.

“I plan on going again next year.” Sophomore Landon Turner said. Well known DJ White Mike was the music provider for Homecoming. Hot tracks from Soulja Boy’s “She Gotta Donk” to M.I.A’s “Paper Planes” were played. In the middle of the dance, the homecoming king Michael Atkinson and homecoming queen Ashley Blatt were announced.

“My least favorite part about homecoming was when people stepped on my toes,” sophomore Charity O’Connor said. With girls immediately taking their heels off as soon as they arrived, that became a problem for many girls. By the end of the night though, that wasn’t even a thought crossed with the fun everybody had at Homecoming.

The gym commons was packed with 737 excited dancing HHS students. Girls arrived with freshly curled hair, heels, and well done make-up. By the end of the night, many left barefoot, make-up gone, and messy hair. Guys left with undone ties and sweat dripping down their faces.
