Harrisonburg High School’s senior softball players are more anxious about their final season than other athlete’s in the past. Because the players have already improved their record from last year, the upperclassmen have mixed feelings about graduating and leaving a talented team behind.
“I think we have a really good team and we have shown that more this year than the years before,” senior Emily Gordon said. “It is going to be pretty sad to leave behind all the girls but I hope we do the best we can this season.”
Additionally, the entire softball team has become a lot closer through team bonding. The team organizes activities outside of practice and games, such as a movie night, attending a James Madison University softball game as a team, and even going to a teammate’s cabin for the weekend.
“The whole team is closer than other years, too. We are like sisters,” Gordon said.
Although it is the seniors’ last year of high school play, they are all eager to see the outcome of the season.
